Every partner is ID-verified before their first job, every booking starts with your 4-digit code, and phone numbers are masked both ways. Regulated services — security guards, insurance help, medicines, e-waste, rides — are fulfilled only by licensed partners under their own licence. Jhatpat is not an emergency service: in danger, call 112 first.
One of the ten Jhatpat policies that form part of the Terms of Service. The same text is shown inside the app (Account → Legal & policies) and on our Google Play listing.
1. Purpose
Jhatpat connects households with local partners for work that often happens inside homes and around children, parents, vehicles, money, medicines, gas and electricity. This policy sets out the safety rules both sides agree to, the boundaries of regulated services, and what to do when something goes wrong. It forms part of the Terms of Service and the Service Partner Terms.
2. How partners are verified
Before a partner can accept a job we verify: a government ID (Aadhaar through DigiLocker or OTP, or another accepted ID) matched to a live selfie; a phone number; skills for each service they offer; and, depending on the partner type, a police-verification certificate, driving licence and vehicle registration, shop and GST registration, PSARA licence, IRDAI registration, CPCB / SPCB authorisation, NGO registration or drug licence. Every partner completes training on the Jhatpat standard. Documents are re-checked before expiry; a lapsed document pauses the related service. Verification reduces risk — it does not guarantee any partner's future conduct or the outcome of a job.
3. Built-in safety controls
- Start code — a job starts only when you share your 4-digit code with the partner at your door, so the person who arrives is the person assigned.
- Masked calling — customers and partners call each other through the app; neither sees the other's number.
- Live status — you see the partner's name, photo, rating and arrival on the map; partners see only your first name, the booking details and a masked number.
- Proof of work — checklists, photos and timings are captured in the app and used to resolve disputes.
- In-app only — payments, quotes, extra time and rescheduling happen in the app; anything arranged outside it is not covered by Jhatpat Assured.
- Ratings — every booking is rated; partners below the published threshold are paused for retraining or removed.
4. Conduct we expect from everyone
Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, sexual misconduct, violence, theft, fraud, stalking, threats, deliberate property damage, intoxication on a job and exploitation are prohibited for customers and partners alike, and lead to immediate suspension and, where warranted, a police report. Partners may refuse or stop work that is unsafe, unlawful, materially different from the booking or outside their competence; customers may end a job and call support at any time.
5. Home access
Share only the access information the job needs. Do not hand over keys, lock codes or alarm credentials unless the service specifically involves a controlled handover recorded in the app (a vacation home-watch plan, for example). Keep cash, jewellery and documents secured, keep children and pets away from work areas, and be present or nominate an adult who is.
6. Children and vulnerable persons
Baby, kids and elder-care services need a guardian's instructions and emergency contact. Partners must not transport a child, give any medicine, photograph a child or dependent adult, or take them anywhere outside the booked scope without the guardian's written authorisation in the app. Carers respect dignity, consent and privacy, and must never present themselves as nurses or perform clinical tasks. School and activity escorts hand over only to the adult named in the booking.
7. Regulated services — who is responsible
| Service | Fulfilled only by | Jhatpat's role |
|---|---|---|
| Security guard | Agency licensed under PSARA, 2005 | Marketplace; the agency assigns, supervises and is responsible for the guard |
| Insurance buy / review, renewal, claim assistance, policy service | IRDAI-registered insurance professional or intermediary | Introduction and appointment only; not an insurer, intermediary or aggregator; no premium collected; no outcome promised |
| Medicines | Pharmacy holding a valid drug licence | Pickup and delivery only; prescription medicines only against a valid prescription |
| E-waste pickup | Recycler authorised by CPCB / State Pollution Control Board | Marketplace; certificate of responsible disposal issued by the recycler |
| Donation pickup | Registered NGO | Marketplace; receipt issued by the NGO |
| Rides, drivers, courier, moves | Drivers and operators with the permits their vehicle and service require | Marketplace; a category is enabled only where it may lawfully operate |
| Buyback of phones and laptops | Verified buyback partner; IMEI / serial checked against theft registries | Marketplace; a device that fails the check is refused |
| Locksmith | Verified locksmith who checks the customer's ID and proof of residence before opening any lock | Marketplace; the partner may refuse if not satisfied |
Jhatpat does not present itself as, and must not be treated as, an insurer, bank, lender, clinic, pharmacy, security agency, transport operator or recycler.
8. Gas, electricity and other hazards
A suspected gas leak, fire, sparking, burning smell or exposed live wiring is an emergency, not a repair booking: switch off the supply if it is safe to do so, leave the area, call your LPG distributor's emergency line (1906) or 112, and book only once it is safe. Partners never bypass safety devices, never work on live mains, and stop and escalate when work is beyond their competence or licence.
9. Rides and vehicles
Drivers keep licence, registration, insurance, PUC and permits valid and carry them; riders wear the safety equipment the law requires and do not ask for overloading, unlawful routes or a different vehicle than booked. Jhatpat may suspend a driver on any report of unsafe driving pending review.
10. Prohibited items for courier, errands and moves
Weapons, explosives, fireworks, hazardous or flammable chemicals, illegal drugs, alcohol where prohibited, tobacco to minors, stolen goods, wildlife products, counterfeit documents, cash and high-value valuables (jewellery, bearer instruments), live animals, prescription medicines without a valid prescription, and anything the app marks as restricted. Partners may inspect a sealed package's declared contents and refuse it; a refused item is treated as a customer cancellation.
11. Buyback, scrap and recycling
Before handing over a phone, laptop or tablet, back up your data, sign out of all accounts, remove screen locks and activation locks; the partner otherwise resets the device in front of you and cannot leave with your data. Scrap is weighed on a calibrated digital scale in front of you. E-waste is never dumped: the recycler's certificate is attached to your booking.
12. Emergencies and incident reporting
Jhatpat is not police, fire, ambulance or a government emergency service. In immediate danger call 112 first. Then report the incident from the booking (Help → Report a safety issue) or to jhatpat@gmail.com / +91 87569 92565; safety reports are escalated the same day under the Grievance Redressal & Customer Support Policy, the partner is suspended during review, and we cooperate fully with the authorities and preserve the job record as evidence.
13. Changes
We update this policy as services and regulations change; the effective date at the top is updated each time.
